Arizona State Scores Big With Its Smallest Branch

Arizona State Credit Union was opening its smallest branch to date inside the Arizona State University student union. This created a major challenge – how to turn 300 square feet into something that would attract an audience of students and faculty.

Arizona State knew they needed to rethink their idea about branch design. With such a small space, they needed something that would spark immediate interest and get people talking. The space was created as a educational center where people could learn more about the credit union philosophy and banking solutions provided by Arizona State Credit Union. They wanted a space that did more than handle typical financial transactions.

To complete their vision, Arizona State turned to Weber Marketing Group. WMG picked up on the idea of a learning center and created a “brain” motif of gears and other moving parts inside a human head with the copy line “Rethink Banking.” The color scheme is youthful and fresh, making the space appear larger than it really is.

Reaction to the space has been overwhelmingly positive. People are stopping by just to learn more and the branch has also attracted many new members.

Under an incredibly tight deadline, Weber created this space which is now the location against which all others are compared, says Paul Stull, Arizona State’s VP of Marketing. This new ‘recruit and train’ has turned heads with its non-traditional approach.
